Remember last week I mentioned in my blog post that we were going to have an announcement this week? Well, we closed on our brand new home this week! How exciting? We started the process in November 2019, and I cannot believe how we built our dream home.
When I created this blog, I had three categories in mind, finances, travel, and lifestyle. This home buying series will fall under lifestyle and finances.
EXPECTATIONS
Over the next several weeks, I plan on sharing the journey about how we built our dream home. The good, the bad, and the ugly. The reason you do not want to miss any post during the series is the details I will be providing. I am going to outline the process, share what we learned, and mistakes to avoid during home buying. Some of the topics I plan on covering during the series but not limited are as follow:
TOPICS TO BE COVERED
- How did we decide on the builder
- What kind of research we did to help us
- How did we pick the lender
- What kind of research we did to help us
- First time home buyer programs
- How to save a substantial amount towards the down payment
- Negotiating interest rates
- Checking school systems for a specific town
- Establish great credit scores
I believe the most exciting part about the entire process was picking the land. We searched many different counties in Maryland, and once we found this community, we couldn’t turn our back.
I remember driving home that day and asked my husband, did we take the first step to build a brand new home? It was surreal. It was everything we ever imagined. We wanted the smell of a new home in an area that we strategically picked.
Since we had been looking for houses for a whole year, we were confident the moment we visited the model home. The builder we used was Ryan Homes. Unless you have been living under a rock, you should have seen at least one of their signs around. The entire process was seamless, and if we had to do it again, I wouldn’t change a thing.
